“When I was visiting Los Vegas I was shopping around and found this dress, the most beautiful dress, I felt this dress was made for me. It was $450 and I was not going to get it but I asked could I please try it on anyway. I tried the dress on in the dressing room which you were not supposed to do.”

“People get a very different picture of me. People never assume that I love literature, politics, or the news. Because of how I dress, people think I’m an airhead. But I’m not. Because I’m from here, I care about the Environment. Here in Ashland, I get alot of weird looks, I get negative attention. When I look like this in Los Vegas, nobody cares.”

“It’s hard for me to define myself, as there are many sides to me. Since I’m so immersed in culture, I don’t feel the need to define myself. I got hooked into consumerism at an early age, was into Barbie Dolls…and I do indulge. I enjoy fashion but know there is a negative side.
Maybe social media affects young kids. They would look at a photo and ask – what does this say about me?”

“Yes. The one that stood out to me was the one where they showed a model and all the the Photoshopping they did before putting her in a magazine.”
When I told Melissa that her look reminded me of the Kardashians, she looked elated and said with a fabulous smile, “Thank you, thank you so much!”
