Gail and Patrick. Amtrak. Headed to Orange Country to visit family.
Patrick: “I don’t take selfies. They spread headlice. I think it’s obnoxious. Why can’t you just get someone to take a photo of you and your friends?”
Gail: “(to Patrick) Are you saying that because you’ve heard me say that, or is that what you think? I don’t even have a smartphone. It seems to me a really egocentric way to live. It’s like when people feel the need to tweet their every move. I’m a hold out. He keeps telling me to get into the 21st Century. I was at work and recently found a floppy disk in my desk…remember those? Growing up, I didn’t feel like anyone cared what I was doing. Maybe young kids are on to something. Maybe taking selfies is a sign of self worth.”
